Holden, Walter Frederick Clarke 1882 - 1953

Walter Frederick Clarke Holden was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 18 October 1882.  It is not known where or with whom he trained but by 1922 he had qualified as an architect.

In the 1920s Holden was in partnership with Frederick Charles Richard Palmer (1874-1934) as Palmer & Holden. They designed a number of Branches for the National Provincial Bank. During the 1930s he was a partner in the architectural practice Burgess, Holden & Watson which had an office in Lloyds Bank Chambers, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire

Holden served with distinction in the Royal Engineers during World War One and was awarded the Military Cross (MC) in 1918.  He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1922 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Archutects (FRIBA) in 1926.

His address was given as Essex House, London End, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire in 1911; and Sailor's Acre, Gregories Road, Beaconsfleld. 1922 and 1953.  He died on 5 March 1953. His death was registered in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire.
