Horth, Frederick John 1879 - 1964

Frederick John Horth [also known as Frederic John Horth] was born in Birmingham, Warwick, England on 29 August 1879 and was articled to George Ingall (1827-?) and Alfred Victor Ingall (1861-1911) of George Ingall & Son in Birmingham, England from 1895 to 1900.  He also attended Birmingham School of Art. He then briefly worked as an assistant to William Henry White (1862-1949). From 1901 to 1907 he was employed as an assistant in Hull City Architects' Department.  He subsequently formed a partnership with Harry Andrew (1889-1973) in as Horth & Andrew in Hull.

From 1907 Horth lectured in Architectural Design at Hull School of Art. He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1910, an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1921, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1926.  In 1904 he was awarded the Soane Medal

Horth lived in Hull throughout his career as an architect, and died in Hull on 8 August 1964
