Houfton, Percy Bond 1874 - 1926

Percy Bond Houfton [commonly known as Percy B. Houfton] was born in Alfreton, Derbyshire in 1874. He trained and qualified as a mining engineer and gained architectural experience during his work in this profession.

Houfton established an architectural practice in Chesterfield some time before 1903 and was subsequently Consulting Architect and Town Planning Advisor for Chesterfield Borough Council, and Housing Architect for Chesterfield Rural District Council and the Bollsover Colliery Co. Ltd.

A drawing of a sandstone house at Barnsley, designed by Houfton is featured in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art 1907 (opposite p.24).

Houfton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1925. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1906.  He died on 16 May 1926. His death was registered in London. At the time of his death he was living in Chesterfield.
