Charles Houthuesen was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1912 and came to England as a child. He subsequently became a draughtsman, specialising in the construction of scale architectural models. He won many awards for his designs, especially working with Perspex. With Richard R. Reffell he assisted Hulme Chadwick in the design of the National Coal Board stand at the 'Industrial Wales Exhibition' held at Olympia, London, 28 August-13 September 1947. He retired to Norfolk and died in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk on 18 February 2013 aged 101
