Hunt, Herbert Salmon 1880 - 1953

Herbert Salmon Hunt was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England on 10 June 1880 and was articled to Albert Edward Dixon (1867-1949) in Leeds from 1896 to 1900, during which time he also attended the Institute of Science, Art and Literature in Leeds. He then worked as an assistant to Barber Hopkinson (1822-1891) in Keighley, Yorkshire in 1900-01; Messrs Morley in Leeds; Harry Perkin (1847-1925 and George Bertram Bulmer (1851-1915) of Perkin & Bulmer from 1901 to 1908; and to Thomas Bostock Whinney (1860-1926) from 1908.

By 1911 he had married and was living in Golders Green, London. He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) that year.

Drawings and plans of a house designed by him are illustrated in Designs for One Hundred Ideal £1,000 Houses. Being copies of the hundred best designs entered in the 1912 Daily Mail Architects' Competition (1912 p.62).

Hunt's address was given as 25 Hamilton Road, Golders Green, London in 1911; 39 Hamilton Road, Golders Green, London in 1914 and 1926; and "Maycroft", The Ridgway, Kenton, Harrow, Middlesex in 1939. He died in Wimbley, Middlesex on 24 May 1953
