Johnson, Henry Winter 1871 - 1918

Henry Winter Johnson was born in Melton Mowbray Leicestershire England in April  1871. After training as an architect with Walter John Nash Millard (1854-1936) and Frank Thomas Baggallay (1855-1930) of Millard & Baggallay in 1888, he was articled to Henry Stock (1824?-1909), Robert Page (?-1920) and William Henry Stock (1851-1906) of Stock, Page & Stock from 1889, and remained as their assistant. He was also assistant to John Alfred Gotch (1852-1942) and Charles Saunders of Gotch & Saunders in Kettering in 1895-96.  

In 1896 he commenced independent practice and from 1896 was in partnership with Herbert George Coales (1863-1945) as Coles & Johnson [also known as H.G. Coales & H.W. Johnson] in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.  

Johnson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1904.  His address was given as Bank Chambers, Market Harborough and 10, Leicester Road, Market Harborough in 1904 and 1914.  He died at Corner Cottage, Buleigh, Devon on 15 December 1918.
