Law, Charles Orlando 1871 - 1918

Charles Orlando Law was born in Dover, Kent, England on 30 November 1871 and was articled to Thomas Durrans (1850-1923) from 1888 to 1892.  He also studied at Heidelberg University in Germany and at the Royal Academy Schools and the Architectural Association Schools in London. He worked as an assistant to Alexander Henrey Kersey (1850-1938); to John Belcher (1841-1913); to Albert Charles Brede (?-1903); to William Henry Ansell (1873-1959); and to Alfred Burnell Burnell (1860?-1910) in 1894-95).

Law commenced independent practice as an architect in London and Weymouth in 1898.  He was surveyor to the Basingstoke Canal Company and the Southend Syndicate.

He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1910. His address was given as Bois Mill House, Chesham, Buckinghamshire in 1910; Dacre House, 5 Arundel Street, London in 1896 and 1910; 34 Paulton's Square, Chelsea, London in 1914; and 112 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London in 1918.  

During World War One he served as a Captain in the Royal Engineers. According to the England & Wales, National Probate Calendar he died in St George's Hospital, Hyde Park Corner, London on 29 December 1918, however, his grave states that he died on 2 January 1919.
