Ernest Law was born in York, England on 3 October 1880. In the 1911 Census of England and Wales his occupation was given as draughtsman, H.M. Office of Works. He subsequently practised as an architect, however, it is not known where or with whom he trained. A design for a house by him was entered in The "Daily Mail" Ideal Houses Competition for Architects, 1927.
Law continued to work for H.M. Office of works until at least 1939. His address was given as 50 Avondale Road, Croydon, Surrey in 1927 and 1939. He died in Croydon, Surrey in 1956
