Lewis, David 1922 - 2020

David Lewis was born in Pope’s Hole, England, on 24 January 1922*.  He studied at the University of Cape Town and Leeds School of Architecture and subsequently worked as an architect, painter, art and architectural critic, broadcaster and lecturer.  He was editor of the ‘Architect’s Year Book’ and author of several books on art and architecture.  He was Andrew Mellon Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at Carnegie Institute of Technology [now Carnegie Mellon University] in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lived in Pittsburgh.  He died in Pittsburgh on 30 June 2020.
