Lewis, John Antony 1914 - 1998

John Antony Lewis [also known as Anthony Lewis and as J. Anthony Lewis] was born on 2 November 1914 and qualified as an architect in the late 1930s.  During the 1950s and early 1960s he was a partner with Michael John Tapper (1886-1963) in the practice Tapper & Lewis in London. Projects on which Lewis is known to have worked included the rebuilding,to a new design, St. Matthew's Church in Bethnal Green in 1957-61,and the design of the exhibition 'Setting Up Home' organized in 1952 by the Whitechapel Art Gallery in conjunction with Oxford House, Bethnal Green. 

Lewis was an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1939).  His address was given as 13 Parchment Street, Winchester, Winchester, Hampshire in 1939
He died in Camden, London on 24 October 1998.
