Lovell, Richard John c. 1858 - 1931

Richard John Lovell was born in Shoreditch, Middlesex [now London], England in c.1858 and was articled to Theodore Knowles Green (1832-1916) in London. He also attended the Royal Academy Schools in London and classes at the Architectural Association Schools in London.  He was employed as an assistant in the offices of Robert Walker (1836?-1896) and Richard Adolphus Came. He was chief assistant to George Rackstrow Crickmay (1830-1907 in Weymouth, Devon and to George Elkington  (1823?-1897) and George Elkington (1851-1939) in 1881.

Lovell was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1881 and commenced practice as an architect in London in 1883. Between c.1907 and c.1910, with (?) Bulman* he was senior partner in the architectural practice Lovell & Bulman. The address of the firm was given as 67/69 Chancery Lane, London in 1908, and Queen Victoria Street, London in 1910.

Lovell's address was given as 63 Finsbury Pavement, London in 1881; Queen Victoria Street, London in 1891 and 1910; and Brownlow House, 50/51 High Holnorn, London in 1914.  He died in Middlesex on 10 January 1931
