John Mackenzie was born in Belfast, Ireland in September 1844 and was articled to Robert Young (1822-1917) in Belfast. He subsequently joined Robert Young in partnership as Young & Mackenzie and later also with Young's son, Robert Magill Young. Mackenzie died on 27 April 1917.
