Ernest Henry Norham Major [commonly known as also known as Ernest Henry Major and as Ernest Harry Major] was born in Lisburn, Antrim, Ireland in 1876 and was articled to Anthony T. Jackson in Belfast from 1895 to 1899. He then worked as an assistant to Rowland Plumbe (1838-1919) in London from 1899 to 1901. He was Clerk of Works for the Roman Catholic Church in Clacton in 1901-02 and assistant to Francis William Tasker (c.1848-1904) from 1902 to 1904. He was in partnership with Francis William Tasker and (?) Williams as Tasker, Major & Williams in London. Major was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA).
Major's address was given as 2, John Street, Bedford Row in 1911 and 1926; Woodgate, Dane Hill, Uckfield, Sussex in 1911; 102 Belgrave Road, London in 1911 and 1914; and Woodgate, Dane Hill, Uckfield, Sussex in 1911; and Fridays, Ockley, Surrey in 1941. He died on 13 February 1941.
