Moffat, Bowland Brockman 1880 - 1925

Bowland Brockman Moffat was born Snape, Suffolk, England on 19 November [or 19 December - sources differ] 1880 and was articled to Bertram Douglas Cancellor (1865-1942) and Henry Leonard Gauntlett Hill (1863-1947) of Cancellor & Hill in Winchester from 1898 to 1902. He then worked as an assistant to Barry Parker (1867-1947) and Raymond Unwin (1863-1940) of Parker & Unwin in Buxton, Derbyshire from 1902 to 1904, Letchworth, Hertfordshire in 1904-05, and Matlock, Derbyshire on the Rockside Hydro project in 1905-06. He was also employed as an assistant to Coutney Melville Crickmer (1879-1971).

Moffat commenced independent practice in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire in 1906. His practice worked on country residences, shops, cottages and clubs.  

Moffat elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911 and was a member of the Association of Bedfordshire Architects.  He died at his home, 2 Cornwall Villas, Henlow, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, on 19 January 1925
