Adrian Albert van Montagu was born in England on 31 December 1901. He practised as and architect in London and during the 1930s was in partnership with Winifred Barbara Acworth (1895-1983) as Ackworth & Montague. They had an office at 37 Gordon Square, London.
Montagu was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1983. In 1929 he married Anne Mabel Olivia Trouton (1900-1986), a fellow architect. His address was given as Braziers End House, Chesham, Buckinghamshire. He died in Buckinghamshire on 12 March 1994
