Delmé George Mootham was born in Bournemouth, Hampshire [now Dorset], England on 25 July 1870 and was articled to John Shaw Helyer (1857-1919) in Bournemouth. He also studied at South Kensington School of Art. He then worked as an assistant in various architectural offices including that of William Muskett Yetts (c.1858-1924) in London for two years.
Moorman qualified as an architect in 1896 and the following year was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA).
His address was given as 72 Christchurch Road, Holdenhurst, Bournemouth, Hampshire in 1891; 53, Essendene Road, Paddington, London in 1901; 1 Savoy Steps, Strand, London in 1907; 11 Beverley Gardens, Barnes, Surrey in 1910 and 1920; 14 Jermyn Street, London in 1914; "Studlands", Beverley Gardens, Barnes, Surrey in 1923 and 1926; By 1939 he had retired as an architect and had moved to Ryde in the Isle of Wight where he lived for a number of years. By 1955 he had moved to 44 Steeplehall Road, Northfield, Birmingham, his address at the time of his death on 22 July 1963.
