Stuart Mill Mould was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England in April 1874. He was articled to Henry Greig Badenoch (1847-?) and James Bruce (1857-?) of Badenoch & Bruce from 1893 to 1895 and remained with them as their assistant until 1898. He qualified as an architect in 1897 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) the following year. In 1898 he commenced independent practice in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In c.1912 he emigrated with his family to Australia. He was for several years a partner with Donald Thomas Esplin (1874-1960) in the Sydney, New South Wales-based architectural firm Esplin & Mould. .
Mould died in Mosman, New South Wales Australia on 27 July 1944. His son, John Stuart Mill (1910-1957) was also an architect.
