Norman, Herbert 1868 - 1946

Herbert Norman was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire in 1868. He was articled to Matthew Henry Holding (1847-1910) from 1885 to 1889 and remained with him for a period as his assistant. He was also an assistant to William Henman (1846-1917) in Birmingham; and to Thomas Spencer Wood and W. H. Kendrick of Wood & Kendrick in west Bromwich.

Norman commenced independent practice as an architect in Northampton in 1896.  He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1928.  He practised throughout his career in Northampton.  The address of his practice was given as 61 Billing Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire in 1908 and 1939.  He died in Northampton on 23 July 1946.
