Picton, Clement John 1889 - 1956

Clement John Picton was born in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales on 12 July 1889.  He trained as an architect at the  School of Architecture, University College, London; and privately. He commenced independent practice in Letchworth, Hertfordshire in 1914.  In the 1920s he was in partnership with Ernest Richard Knott (1894-1976). A design for a house by them won third prize in The "Daily Mail" Ideal Houses Competition for Architects in 1927.

Picton was a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) and was admitted an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1925.  His address was given as 3 Park Road Chard, Somerset, England in 1911; Gartref, Icknield Way, Letchworth, Hertfordshire in 1914; St. Kilda, The Quadrant, Letchworth, Hertfordshire in 1923; 1, Hillshott, Letchworth, Hertfordshire in 1926; and 28 Willian Way, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, England 1939. He died in January 1956. His death was registered in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England.
