Robb, George Clark 1903 - 1980

George Clark Robb [commonly known as George C. Clark] was born on 2 February 1903. He was an apprentice in George Heriot's Trust Works Department in Edinburgh from 1919 to 1924 and worked an assistant in the Department from 1924 to 1929. In the early 1930s he was an assistant to the Edinburgh City Architect James MacRae (1881-1951) and designed the housing development, Royston Mains Crescent in Edinburgh (1935). In 1936 Richard Alfred Hardwick Livett (1898-1959), Director of Housing for the City of Leeds, appointed Robb as Senior Architectural Assistant. Robb subsequently designed Shaftesbury House [now Greenhouse] (1936), a hostel for over 300 men and 100 women in Beeston, Leeds. In the late 1930s Robb was Architect and Chief Housing Assistant for Oxford Corporation. By the early 1950s he been appointed Regional Planning Officer in the Department of Health for Scotland.

He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1940. He was also an Associate Member of the Town Planning Institute (AMTPI)

His address was given as 67 Delbush Avenue, Bullingdon, Oxford, Oxfordshire in 1939; and 60 Church Street, Enverness in 1950. He died on 12 August 1980. His death was registered in West Linton, Peeblesshire, Scotland
