Rodway, Ernest George 1876 - 1962

Ernest George Rodway was born in Axbridge, Somerset, England in 1876 and was articled to Henry Dare Bryan (1868-1909) from 1893 to 1897. He also attended Weston-super-Mare School of Art.  He then worked as an assistant to James Henry La Trobe (1862-1921) and Thomas Henry Weston (c.1870-?) in 1897; to S. J. Wilde in 1897; and to H. D. Bryan in 1898.  Rodway qualified as an architect in 1901 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1902.

In 1901 Rodway formed a partnership, Rodway & Dening, with Charles Frederick William Dening (1876-1902).  The partnership was dissolved in 1918.  Rodway continued to practice in Bristol until his retirement in 1931.

His address was given as 6 St. John's Terrace Weston-super-Mare, Somerset in 1881 and 1902; 8 Royal Crescent, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset in 1911; Gaunt House, Orchard Street, Bristol in 1914 and 1935; and 1 Kewstoke Road, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset in 1936 and 1950. He died on 15 October 1962. His address at the time of his death was 16 Gerard Road, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
