Rogers, Fergus Carstairs 1864 - 1927

Fergus Carstairs Rogers was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 26 December 1864 and was articled to John Macvicar Anderson (1835-1915) in London.  He also attended the South Kensington Schools in London. In 1889 he moved to South Africa and settled in Kimberley, Northern Cape. He worked for the Public Works Department for two years before establishing his own independent architectural practice in 1892.  In 1898 he won the competition to design a new Town Hall in Kimberley.  From c.1905 Rogers was in partnership with John Gardner Ross (?-1915) as Rogers & Ross, and in the early 1930s formed a partnership with George Frederick Wright (?-1934) as Rogers & Wright.  

Rogers was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1925.  His address was given as 1, Gordon Chambers, 28, Stockdale Street, Kimberley, South Africa and 1a, Lanyon Terrace, Kimberley, South Africa in 1914.  He died in Kimberley on 4 November 1927
