John Eustace Salisbury was born in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, England on 12 May 1876 and was the son of Henry Salisbury (1838-1923) whose occupation was given as Plumber, Decorator and Ironmonger in the 1881 England Census. His elder brother, Francis 'Frank' Owen Salisbury (1874-1962) became a distinguished painter.
J. E. Salisbury's occupation was given as Decorator in the 1891 Census and Master Builder in the 1911 Census. At some point, he studied at the Royal College of Art in London, was articled to Frank Newey, and qualified as an architect. He was for a period in partnership with the architect Leonard Arthur Culliford (1888-1960) as Salisbury & Culliford. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1927.
Salisbury's address was given as 32 Theobalds Road, London in 1928. He died on 27 February 1929. His address at the time of his death was Gable End, Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
