Charles Edgar Salmon was born in Richmond, Surrey [now London], England on 22 November 1872 and was articled to Joseph Douglass Mathews (1838-1923). He also attended the Architectural Association Schools in London. He commenced practice as an independent architect in Reigate, Surrey in 1895. He was a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) and was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1925.
Salmon had a keen interest in botany and worked on the second County Flora of Surrey until his death. The volume was published posthumously in 1931.
His address was given as Bell Street, Reigate, Surrey in 1903; Portland House, Basinghall Street, London in 1914; 67, High Street, Reigate, Surrey in 1914 and 1928; and Finsbury Pavement House, London in 1923. He died in Reigate, Surrey on 1 January 1930.
