Sydney Geoffrey Scales [also known Sydney Geoff Scales] was born in Wanstead, Essex England on 25 August 1886 and was articled to G. E. Clare and Walter Gray Ross of Clare & Ross in Chelmsford, Essex. He commenced practice as an independent architect in Eastbourne, East Sussex in 1910. He was a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) and was admitted an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1925.
His address was given as 7 Bolton Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, Victoria Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex, and Market Square, Hailsham, East Sussex in 1914; and Victoria Road, Horley, Surrey in 1926 He died in Eastbourne, Sussex in 1959
