Lambertus Louis Theodoor Sloot [commonly known as Lambert Louis Theodore Sloot] was born to Dutch parents in Willesden, Middlesex, England on 4 July 1894. It is not known where and with whom he trained as an architect. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1926. During the late 1920s and early 1930s he was employed by the architectural firm Stark & McNeill in Ipoh, Federal Malay States. By c.1933 he had returned to England and had formed the partnership Bertram Carter & Sloot with George Bertram Carter (1896-1986), with an office at 14 Clifford's Inn, Temple, London. The partnership appears to have been dissolved by the end of 1935 and Sloot subsequently worked alone.
Sloot was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1937.
