Smith, Frank Halliburton 1901 - 1975

Frank Halliburton Smith was born at 14 Maberley Road, Upper Norwood, Croydon, Surrey, England on 30 August 1901 and was the son of the architect Frank Adams Smith (1857-1939), with whom of he may have received some of his training.  He attended the Architectural Association Schools in London and was awarded the A.A. Diploma.  He subsequently established his own independent practice at 2 St James Square, Kensington, London.  In c.1935 he formed a partnership with his father as F. Adams & Son.  They had and offices at 35 New Broad Street, London.

A house in Wimbledon, Surrey, designed by Frank Halliburton Smith and a house in Mundesley, Norfolk designed by Smith in collaboration with Lionel Godfrey Pearson (1879-1953)  are discussed in Small Houses £500-£2500, edited by H. Myles Wright (1937 pp. 104, 112).    He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1926 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1937.  He was Master of the Carpentrs' Company in 1962-63. He died in Calne, Wiltshire on 15 December 1975
