Swash, Frank Stanley 1885 - 1965

Frank Stanley Swash was born in Cardiff, Glamoragan, Wales on 11 August 1885 and was the son of the architect Alfred Swash (1860-1939). He was articled to his father and John Bain (1868-1935) of Swash & Bain in Newport from 1900 to 1903, and remained with them as their assistant until 1906. He also worked as an assistant to his father from 1906 to 1908. He commenced independent practice with his father in Newport and Llandrindod Wells in 1908 as Alfred Swash & Son.  He passed his qualifying exam in 1911 and was elected an a Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1912 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1917.

His address was given as The Mount, Llandrindod, Wales in 1912; 5. Fields Park Avenue, Newport, Monmouthshire in 1914 and 1925; "Stonycroft", Ridgeway, Newport, Monmouthshire in 1925 and 1930; 6 Commercial Street, Newport in 1930 and 1933; 4 Regent Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in 1933 and 1937; Seven Gables, Castle Lane, Caerlon, Wales in 1937 and 1950; and 14 Blake Hill Crescent, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset in 1965.  He died in Poole, Dorset on 21 October 1965.
