Tall, Marjorie

Marjorie Tall [also known as Marjorie Ling, Polly Tall and as Polly Ling] was born in Gravesend, Kent, England on 10 January 1914. In 1938 she was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA). It is not known where or with whom she trained as an architect. The Haven, a house in Wrotham Road, Meopham, Kent, designed by her is discussed in The Modern House in England by F.R.S. Yorke (London: The Architectural Press, 1937 pp. 45-46).

In 1939 she married the architect and town planner Arthur George Ling (1913-1995) who from 1964 to 1972 was a professor at the University of Nottingham. Following her marriage, she practised under the name Marjorie Ling.

Her address was given as 121 St Peters Square, London in 1939 14 St. Peter's Square, Hammersmith, London in 1950 and 1955; and Old Barn, Helmdon, Brackley, Northamptonshire in 1995. She died in London on 6 January 2007
