Anthony Charles Tripe was born in Wellington, New Zealand on 16 December 1907. By the early 1930s he had moved to London, England and in 1934 was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA). It is not known if he received his training as an architect in New Zealand or the UK.
A block of flats in Emily Street, Birmingham designed by Tripe in collaboration with George Grey Wornum (1888-1957) is described in Flats: Municipal and Private Enterprise (London: Ascot Gas Water Heaters Ltd., 1938 pp. 234-238).
In 1951, with Philip Oliver George Wakeham (1907-1982), Tripe formed the architectural partnership Tripe & Wakeham in Westminster, London.
Tripe's address was given as 67 East Street, London in 1935 and 1936; 39 Devonshire Street in 1939; and 49 Hill Street, Westminster, London in 1953. He died in Westminster, London on 30 October 1953.
