Marcus Oswald Type [also known as Marcus O. Type] was born in Martley, near Malvern, Worcestershire, England in 1876 and studied at Birmingham School of Art (1892-97). In 1900 he commenced practice as an architect in partnership with Francis Gilbert Smith (1875-1947) as Marcus O. Type & Gilbert Smith in Birmingham.
Type formally qualified as an architect in 1905 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) the following year. The partnership with Smith was dissolved in 1905.
Type's address was given as 33 Newall Street, Birmingham and Lyndhurst, Blenheim Road, Moseley in 1906; 87 and 89 Edmund Street, Birmingham in 1914 and 1939
Type died in Birmingham on 10 May 1964, His address at the time of his death was 84 Greenhill Road, Moseley, Birmingham.
