Edward Unwin was born in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England in 1895 and was the son of the architect and town planner Raymond Unwin (1863-1940) with whom he may have received his training as an architect.
By the early 1920s he had qualified as and was practising in Hampstead, London. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1925.
His address was given as Bank Hall Lodge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire in 1901; and “Wyldes”, North End, Hampstead, London in 1911 and 1936. He died in Hendon, Middlesex on 10 January 1936
