Vercoe, William Arthur 1873 - 1949

William Arthur Vercoe was born in Hackney, London, England in 1873. He was articled to Albert Lewis Guy (1850-1919) from 1889 and remained with him as his assistant. He also attended Goldsmiths' Institute at New Cross, London and Blackheath School of Art. He qualified as an architect in 1898 and commenced independent practice in London in 1908.  

Vercoe was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1898.  His address was given as 76 High Sreet, Lewisham, London and 15 Belgrave Terrace, London in 1898; 4, Gleneagle Avenue, Mannamead, Plymouth, Devon in 1911 and 1914;  Sun Buildings, Bedford Street, Plymouth, Devon in 1914 and 1939; and 24 Culme Road, Mannamead, Plymouth, Devon.  He died in Moorhaven, Ugborough, Devon on 18 April 1949
