Viner, George James Morriss 1881 - 1940

GJM Viner

George James Morriss Viner was born in Islington, Middlesex [now London] on 27 March 1881. He was articled to Arthur Charles Bulmer Booth (1843?-1914) and remained with him as his assistant. He also London University and the Regent Street Polytechnic in London.  He worked as an assistant to William Arthur Lewis (1870-1955); to Charles Gordon Smith; and to Bernard John Dicksee (1858-1948).

Viner was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911. Drawings and plans of a house designed by him are illustrated in Designs for One Hundred Ideal £1,000 Houses. Being copies of the hundred best designs entered in the 1912 Daily Mail Architects' Competition (1912 p.110).

His address was given as 111 and 113 Queen Victoria Street, London in 1911 and 1923; 11 New Court, Lincoln's Inn, London in 1926; 16 High Oak Road, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire in 1930; "Clifton". Slindon Avenue, Chailey, Sussex in 1939; and 151 Haslucks Green Road, Sherley, near Birmingham in 1940. He died in Solihull, Warwickshire on 15 October 1940
