Vinycomb, John Knox 1880 - 1952

John Knox Vinycomb [also known as Jack Vinycomb] was born in Belfast, Ireland on 14 June 1880 and was articled to James John Phillips (1843-1936) and James St. John Phillips (1870-1935) of J. J. Phillips and Son in Belfast from 1894 to 1899. He then worked as an assistant to Carroll & Batchelor in Dublin from 1899 to 1903; to Geoffrey Prater Armstrong (1870-1924) in London; and to Robert James Worley (1850-1930) in London from 1903 to 1908.

Vinycomb commenced independent practice as an architect in London in 1908.  He was in partnership with Worley from 1908 to 1910; to H. Bulman; and, in the 1930s with
Ashby Bray Tabb (1870-1940).

Vinycomb was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1912, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1926.  

His address was given as 170 Strand, London in 1908; 59 Thornton Avenue, Streatham Hill, Surrey [now London] in 1912 and 1939; 4 Colehill Gardens, Fulham Palace Road, London in 1914; 74 Park Lane, Wallington, Surrey in 1926.  He died in Belfast, Antrim, Northern Ireland on 21 June 1952
