Wakerley, Arthur 1862 - 1931

Arthur Wakerley was born in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England on 15 May 1862 and trained as an architect in Germany, France and the Netherlands. He commenced independent practice in Leicester in 1884 and was in partnership with Walter William Wells (c.1870-?) as Wakerley & Wells from 1904 to at least 1914.

Wakerley was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1902 and was a member of the Leicester Society of Architects and its President.  His address was given as Gedding Hall, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk in 1902; the Queen Anne House 14, Market Place, Leicester in 1914; Crown Hill House, Leicester in 1926 and 1931.  He died in Leicester on 4 April 1931
