Walker, Ernest Robert 1872 - 1942

Ernest Robert Walker was born in Leamington, Warwickshire, England on 10 May 1872 and was articled to Frederick Bodley (1827-1907) and Thomas Garner (1839-1900) of Bodley & Garner in London. He also attended classes at South Kensington School of Art in London.

He commenced practice as an architect in 1897 and was in partnership with William Bonner Hopkins (1868-1958) in the London-based architectural firm W.B. Hopkins & E.R. Walker from 1900-1905.  In 1905 Walker moved to York in Yorkshire where he was in practice until at least the late 1920s. He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911.

Walker's address was given as 5 Staple Inn, Holborn, London in 1897; 7 Clifton, York in 1911; and 17a Lendal, York in 1911 and 1930. He died in York, Yorkshire on 17 May 1942.
