Samuel George Walker was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England in 1867 and was articled to Herbert Walker (1846-?) in Nottingham from 1883 to 1888. He also attended Nottingham University College and Nottingham School of Art. He worked as an assistant to George Thomas Hine (1841-1916) and in a London office for five years. He commenced independent practice as an architect in Nottingham in 1898 and was in partnership with Harry Hall Sands (1867–1935) as Sands & Walker from 1898.
Walker was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1910. His address was given as 14 Wiverton Road, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham in 1910; Milton Chambers, Milton Street, Nottingham and "St. Keyne", Orlando Drive, Carlton, Nottinghamshire in 1910 and 1914; and Arnold Hill House, Mapperley Plains, Nottingham in 1923 and 1939. He retired from practice in 1932 and died in Nottingham on 28 February 1955
