Warren, Gerald 1881 - 1936

Gerald Warren was born in Christchurch, Hampshire, England in 1881 and was articled to George Alfred Hall (1859-1945). He set up his own independent practice in London in 1908 and from 1908 to 1918 was in partnership with Sydney Ernest Castle (1883-1955) as Castle & Warren.  He then formed a partnership with Herbert Lidbetter (1885-1966).  

Drawings and plans of 'St. Aubyns' at Teddington, and a house at Hampton Hill are illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1907 (p.43); a drawing of a house in Weybridge, Surrey, is illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1924 (p.16), a photograph of a house at West Byfleet, designed by him is illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1925 (p.13); photographs of the interior of 'Anningsley Park', Ottershaw, designed by Warren are illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1926 (pp.50, 51); three photographs of 'Ranmore' in West Byfleet, Surrey, designed by him are illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1927 (p.30, 31, 50); two drawings and ground- and first-floor plans of houses at Moor Park, and a photograph of an interior designed by him are illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1928 (pp.24, 25, 89); and three photographs and ground- and first-floor plans of Beck Hall, Sutton, Sussex, showing alterations and additions by him is illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1929 (pp.87, 109). Warren worked with Walter George Tarrant (1875-1942) on the St. George's Hill estate in Weybridge, Surrey.

Warren was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA). His addresses were given as Talbot House, Arundel Street, Strand, London (1910), Amberley House, Norfolk Street, London (1914, 1926). Warren exhibited at the Royal Academy in London between 1924 and 1935. He died in London on 2 July 1936.
