Samuel John Wathen Wigg was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England on 30 April 1884. In the 1911 England and Wales Census his occupation was given as architect's assistant. He subsequently practised as an architect in Leicester. Drawings and plans of a house designed by him are illustrated in Designs for One Hundred Ideal £1,000 Houses. Being copies of the hundred best designs entered in the 1912 Daily Mail Architects' Competition (1912 p.118).
His address was given as 27 Kirby Road, Leicester in 1912; and Southgate, Langley Road, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire in 1967. He died in Elmstone, Hardwicke, Gloucestershire on 24 May 1967
