Wilby, Albert 1885 - 1956

Albert Wilby was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire on 5 March 1885 and was articled to William Henry Thorp (1882-1944) from 1901 to 1903.  He then worked as an assistant to George Augustus Bligh Livesay (1867-1916) in 1904-05; to Horace Field (1861-1948) and Charles Evelyn Simmons (1879-1952) of Horace Field & Simmons from 1905 to 1907; to David Barclay Niven (1864-1942) and Herbert Hardy Wigglesworth (1866-1949) of Niven & Wigglesworth from 1908 to 1910; and to Edwin Landseer Lutyens (1869-1944) in 1911.

Wilby qualified as an architect in 1912 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1913.  He subsequently practised as an architect in London.  

His address was given as Park View, Bretton West, near Wakefield, Yorkshire in 1911; 11 Tanza Road, Hampstead, London in 1913 and 1914; 32 Stanhope Gardens, Kensington, London in 1923; and 31 Stanhope Gardens, Kensington, London in 1926 and 1939.  He died in Kensington, London on 6 March 1956
