Wilson, Arthur Needham 1863 - 1942

Arthur Needham Wilson was born in Moss Side, Manchester, England in 1863 and was articled to Francis Haslam Oldham (c.1844-1908) in Manchester from 1880. He then worked as an assistant to John Belcher (1841-1913) for seven years during which time he studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London. Wilson qualified as an architect in 1889 and the following year set up his own independent practice in London.

A drawing and plan of 'Springfield', Dukes, Essex designed by Wilson are illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1907 (p.44). 

Wilson was Surveyor to the Constitution Club and the Windham Club in London.  He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British architects (ARIBA) in 1889.  In 1886 he was awarded the Soane Medal.  Wilson exhibited at the Royal Academy in London between 1886-1906.  He died in Chigwell, Essex on 3 June 1942.
