Wood, William Walter 1896 - 1982

William Walter Wood was born born in Nottingham, England, on 24 November 1896. He was articled to Frederick Ball (1860-1915) and studied at Nottingham University College, Nottingham School of Art, the Architectural Association School in London, and at Fernand Billery's Atelier in London.

Two photographs, a plan and a brief description of 'Oversound House' in Down Thomas, Devon, designed by Wood is illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1931 (p.10); a photograph and plan of 'Seathwaite, a house in South Devon designed by Wood is illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1932 (p.117); a photograph of a semi-circular bay opening on to a terrace at 'White Walls', Torquay, designed by him is illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1935 (p.20); and two photographs and a description of 'White Walls' in Torquay, Devon, designed by him are illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1936 (p.35).

Wood worked in India and was the founder and Principal of Delhi Polytechnic.

He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1921 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1931. The address of Wood's office in 1926 was given as 102 Great Russell Street, London. His personal address was given as Guy Bowers Cottage, Danbury, Essex in 1939.   He died on 14 May 1982
