Lawrence Wright was born in Bristol, England in 1906. He entered the University of Liverpool School of Architecture in 1924. While a student he designed decorations for Castle Street, Liverpool for the Royal Visit in 1927. He was awarded a B.Arch. in 1929 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1930. He was an Owen Jones Student in 1932 and in 1934 was awarded an M.A. from the the University of Liverpool.
After graduation Lawrence pursued a career as an architectural perspectivist, painter and as an etcher. He was also the author of several books on architectural or domestic accessories and a book about perspective.
Wright exhibited on several occasions at the Royal Academy in London between 1935 to 1956. His work was also shown at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
In the 1930s and 1940s, Lawrence made animated films including a satire about Hitler called 'Adolf's Busy Day', under the pseudonym Lance White.
His address was given as 16 Carlisle Street, Dean Street, London in 1939. He later lived in Alresford, Hampshire. He died in 1983
Examples of his work are in the permanent collections of Alresford and the Museum of London.
