Mathews, J. Douglass & Partners 1862 - ?

J. Douglass Mathews & Partners [also known as J. Douglass Mathews, Son & Ridley] was an architectural practice founded in London, England by Joseph Douglass Mathews (1838-1923) together with his father in 1862. His son, Henry Edmund Matthews (1868-1947) later joined the partnership.

In the 19th century and first half of the 20th century they were responsible for a considerable number of building in and around London, including public and private buildings, and commercial and manufacturing premises.

Projects by the firm during the post Second World War years included a factory for Aspro-Nicholas Limited, Slough (1956-58), a factory complex of H.J. Heinz Company Ltd. at Kitt Green, near Wigan in Lancashire, England (with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, 1958-59) and a factory for CIBA Laboratories Limited, Horsham (1958-59)
