Thomas James Bold was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England on 28 March 1873. Nothing is known about his training as an architect. From 1903 until it was dissolved in 1929, he was in partnership with Orlando Edmund Thomas Prescott (1871-1949) in the architectural firm Prescott & Bold. Their office was located at King Street, Wigan
Bold appears not to have to have qualified as an architect. His name is not listed in the Royal Institute of British Architects Kalendar. He died in Southport, Lancashire on 12 December 1965
