Orlando Edmund Thomas Prescott was born in Hindley, Wigan, Lancashire, England on 16 November 1871. He was articled to Richard Knili Freeman (1838?-1904) in Bolton, Lancashire from 1888-1893 and remained with him as his assistant until 1903 when he set up his own practice in Wigan in partnership with Thomas James Bold as Prescott & Bold. Their office was located at 8 King Street, Wigan. The partnership was dissolved in 1929.
He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1912. His address was given as 8, King Street, Wigan, Lancs. 1912, 1931; and 20 Sussex Road 1933 and 1949. He died in Southport, Lancashire on 7 July 1949
