Charles Belfield Bone was born Stoke Damerell, Devon, England on 18 January 1862. After studying at Exeter College, London, he was articled to John Hayward (1808-1891) and Pearson Barry Hayward (1838-1888) of Hayward & Son in Exeter, Devon from 1884 to 1887. He was then an improver and later an assistant to Sir Thomas Graham Jackson (1835-1924) from 1887 to 1889 when he commenced independent practice as an architect in Westminster, London. He was in partnership with Henry Cornwallis Rogers (1865-1935)and Frank Alleyn Coles (1866-1926) as Rogers, Coles & Bone which had an office at 9 New Street, Lincoln's Inn, London. He was employed as Consulting Architect to the Rolle Estate in Exmouth.
Bone was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1905. He died in Devon 1942.
