Jonas James Bradshaw was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England in 1837. He was articled to Joseph Marsden from 1855 to 1858 and then remained with him as his leading draughtsman and managing clerk for over seven years. He commenced practice as an architect in Bolton in 1866 and from March to August 1869 he was in partnership with Leigh Hall (1812-1869). From 1880 to 1902 he was in partnership with John Bradshaw Gass (1855-1939) as Bradshaw & Gass in Bolton from 1880 to 1903. In 1902 Arthur John Hope (1875-1960) joined the partnership which was renamed Bradshaw, Gass & Hope. Bradshaw died in Heaton, Lancashire on 28 April 1912
