Francis Brown [commonly known as Frank Brown] was born in 1859 and was articled to Brightwen Binyon (1846-1905) in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. He was then employed in the office of George Edmund Street (1824-1881). He subsequently worked as an architect in Ipswich, Suffolk with John Shewell Corder (1857-1922). In 1897, with local architect George Hastings Burgess (1869?-1944), he took over Binyon's practice following his retirement. They subsequently practised as Brown & Burgess. In 1919 they were joined by Arthur Welburn Field (1883-1964) Brown was Diocesan surveyor until 1926. He died in 1929
